Michael J. Pilla
Chief Underwriting Officer

Michael began his underwriting career in 1975 in the wet marine lines and spent 30 years on the carrier side before joining an MGA in 2005. His career highlights are impressive and include:

In 1987, he led the transition of GRE from an Ocean-dominated book to a balanced Inland Marine book with Construction as the lead line.
He was an instrumental member of the US senior management team at GRE when it was purchased by Liberty Mutual in 1999.
Michael started and managed Liberty International Underwriters CAR Underwriting Group in the United States.
He represented GRE and Liberty Mutual on the Board of Directors of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association.

Prior to joining OnPoint Underwriting, Michael was Chief Underwriting Officer with a leading MGA in the Southeast. In two years, Michael increased their underwriting authority from $3M to $100M. In addition, he increased written premiums in Builder’s Risk from $5M in 2004 and 2005 to over $32M in 2006. In addition to accelerating underwriting capacity, Michael also led the initiative to develop underwriting guidelines and created rating methodologies for both cat and non-cat business, which were instrumental to establishing carrier relationships and capacity.

Jeffrey Vaughn
Underwriting Manager

Vaughn brings extensive underwriting expertise to OnPoint Underwriting. Prior to OnPoint, he served as Senior Underwriter for a leading Southeastern MGA firm. His broad range of experience includes underwriting, marketing, production, relationship management and product development.

Vaughn is recognized for his specialized expertise in Contractor’s, Forestry, and Agricultural Equipment underwriting. Prior to his insurance career, Vaughn was an Operations Specialist and Rescue Swimmer with the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the State University of West Georgia.

Lynda Webb
Senior Underwriter

Lynda joins OnPoint Underwriting as a Senior Underwriter on the Builder’s Risk Team. Over her six year tenure in the commercial insurance business, Lynda has developed a deep expertise in Commercial and Residential Builder’s Risk, and she is widely known as a provider of excellent customer service. Prior to joining OnPoint Underwriting, Lynda served in various analytical roles with the US Army in Germany.
